Stop with the 'Politically Correct' Stuff

Although the article to follow my rant was obviously written and published in Great Britain, we could easily substitute our country references and dates. I am not sure of the author, however am quite captivated by his or hers words. It is all so very true. When I was a young girl I was taught that it was extremely rude to speak in a language other than English. And should you be in another country it would also be rude not to speak in their native tongue while there. My grandmother was fluent in four languages, however, never spoke in a public setting in anything but English. It would seem Miss Manners has not put up a big enough billboard to remind people how obnoxious it is to speak in their native tongue in public. If you want to live and work here it would behoove you to learn the language.
If you are just visiting then by all means don't bother, we know you're leaving.
The wonderful thing about America is that it is a place where freedom reigns, where you have opportunities galore to make your 'fortune' whatever that may be. Maybe it's being a land owner or having a career or your own business, maybe it's simply a safer place to raise your family. It is out of respect that you would want to speak English.
The next issue the letter covers is religion. America is a 'meltingpot' where all people and faiths are welcome. Why should any of us walk on eggshells to celebrate our heritage, our faith, our life! I am not suggesting that our personal beliefs be forced on anyone, what I am saying is we should have the right to celebrate without fear of picketers or protesters. Why can't a town display the Nativity or a Christmas tree in the town hall without atheists coming out of the woodwork to say it 'insults' their belief? I don't believe the way an atheist does but if they wanted to display something in their yard for a celebration...I say go for it! If the majority of the people were atheists then their town hall could display their holiday decor. Just because people celebrate the holidays differently doesn't make it wrong or bad, aren't they all symbols of love and honor? Think of all the holidays throughout the year, with the exception of Halloween, (which in it's own way was based on love too, it originated to protect people from being possessed by the dead) they all have love and honor in mind. So if you choose not to celebrate at all then that is your choice. If you choose to celebrate in a less prominent celebration then that that is being celebrated that to is your CHOICE. Operative word here: Choice.
Finally, God, yes I said God. In God We Trust is printed or imprinted on all our money. God is whoever you believe Him to be. Why take this basic belief away from the mainstream? Why have we taken simple prayers out of our schools. The majority of the world believes in some sort of Higher Power, so it would seem to me that we should welcome such small connections with our faithfulness, no matter your own denomination.
Somehow, some way we need to get back to some basic thinking here. Perhaps I am just an old lady from the old school, but damn it some things weren't meant to change. Progress should mean making things better. This age we live in is not progressing at all. Perhaps in a technological way, but not in a ethical way.
I guess what we need are some stern lessons in ethics.
Let me tell you the definition of 'ethics': It is a theory or a system of moral values; rules, principles or standards governing the conduct of a person or the conduct of the members of a profession. Influences based on ideas of right and wrong.
We are not a society of ethics any longer. Our ideals of right and wrong are stained with bitterness, failure and greed like a pestilence on society. If you read my article on Bill O'Reilly below I'm sure you'll agree his actions held no ethics. Our current government officials are not basing their actions on ethics either. At any rate this post is taking on a life of it's own, and I really did want you to read the following letter sent to me from a friend who resides outside London, so here it is.
Story in a National Newspaper

Will we still be the Country of choice and still be Great Britain if we continue to make the changes forced on us by the people from other countries that came to live in Britain because it is the Country of Choice??????

Think about it...

All I have to say is; when will they do something about MY RIGHTS? I like to celebrate Christmas, but because it isn't celebrated by everyone, we can no longer say Merry Christmas. Now it has to be Season's Greetings. It's not the Christmas holiday, it's Winter Break. Isn't it amazing how this winter break ALWAYS occurs over the Christmas holiday? We've gone so far the other way, bent over backwards to not offend anyone, that now I am being offended. But it seems that no one has a problem with that. This says it all! This is an editorial written by a British citizen, published in a National newspaper He did quite a job didn't he? Read on, please!

IMMIGRANTS, NOT BRITS MUST ADAPT.
I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on the 7th of the 7th we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Brits. However, the disgust about the attacks had barely settled when the "politically correct" crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending others. I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to Britain, Our population is almost entirely made up of descendants of immigrants. (The Danes, Romans etc...) However there are a few things that those who have recently come to our Country, and apparently some born here, needs to understand. This idea of the Brits being a multicultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Britain's we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle. This Culture has been developed over centuries of struggles, trials, and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom. We speak ENGLISH, not Indian, Urdu, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language! "Land of Hope & Glory" is our motto. This is not some Christian, right wing, political slogan. We adopted this motto because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture. If the 'Union Jack' flag offends you, or you don't like our QUEEN, then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet. We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from. This is OUR COUNTRY, our land, and our lifestyle. Our Laws give every citizen the right to express his opinion and we will allow you every opportunity to do so! But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about our flag, our lifestyle our government, or our way of life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great BRITISH freedom, THE RIGHT TO LEAVE.
